Best Titan Tankless Water Heater Reviews
Titan is a manufacturer of not only heating systems for your bathrooms but also other bath accessories like shower heads, heating elements, and other accessories and parts. Titan has a good name in the industry for making good products, but their products are all run of the mill and there is nothing special in what they offer.
In their tankless models they offer both large flow rate as well as small single-point use heaters. Their cost is also in the same range as most other manufacturers in that category. Their heaters are good, but very ordinary and even the efficiency levels are not as high as other models. For example most electricity powered ones will give you at least a 25% reduction in the heating costs while Titan promises only around 16%.
The only thing that is good about them is that they offer you a wide range of temperature settings which mean that you can get a wide range of flow rates too. For example if you want your water really hot, you will get only around 1 GPM but if you are OK with it lukewarm you can get up to 4 GPM in the same heater. Many machines do not offer this facility as their outlet will not allow more than a certain amount of GPM. Their top selling three models are reviewed below.
Titan SCR N100 range
This is the smallest heater in their line and is used for showers. This model gives you between 1 and 4 GPM depending on the water temperature that you need. The manufacturer website recommends that this model be used at the most for one shower with an appliance as it will not support anything more. The only problem is that even if you just want to have a shower, you will need at least 2.5 GPM and at this flow rate you will get only a 25 °F rise in temperature. This is not suitable for winter unless you are using this heater in series with a larger whole house heater. If this is the case you can actually get a much higher flow rate. If on the other hand you do not have a whole house heater, this is pretty much useless unless you live in a region that is hot anyway.
Titan SCR N160 range
This is the next higher range in their line and although they give you the same flow rates, they give you a higher temperature output. This means that at their lowest output which is 1 GPM they can give you a 105 °F rise in temperature while at their highest 4 GPM they will give you 27 °F. This means that you can actually use this heater independent of other heaters even in regions that are cold. If you consider an average shower to use between 2 and 2.5 GPM this model will give you between a 45 °F and 55 °F rise in temperature. Even if the outside temperature is at 60 °F this is still enough to give you water hot enough to take a really steaming bath.
At around $350 they are also the same as others in their category and all said and done, most tankless heaters give you the same rise, and there are some that can even give you up to a 75 °F rise in temperature with a 2 GPM flow rate.
Titan SCR N62
This is another of their small water heaters that do not give you too much of a flow rate. This model is very similar to the N100 range and is even priced similarly at around $230. There is not much of a difference in their working, and most of the changes are purely cosmetic. In fact if you read the specification sheet, you will find that they are almost identical to each other.
The Titan range of tankless water heaters don’t do much that is different from other manufacturers. They offer very similar performance and cost only a little less.
