Best Takagi Tankless Water Heater Reviews
Takagi is not that well known a name when it comes to water heaters although they have been in the market for some time. There is nothing much to distinguish them from other manufacturers and they offer the same kind of features as others do.
Their tankless water heaters are just average, and there is nothing great about anything in their product line. In fact for their price you can get much better ones from other manufacturers that are both more reliable and give you a higher flow rate. Their top selling three models are reviewed below.
Takagi T-K3-OS NG model
This is their model for outside installation and as given in the company website itself is meant only for warmer climates. This is because they do not have any freeze protection, and cannot give you very hot water unless you reduce the flow rate drastically. While this model can give you a 7 GPM comfortably in good weather, once it turns a little harsh, it is a different story and is just useful for a single point use. At around $800 it is a little cheaper than other models in this category, and it is your choice whether you feel that this difference in price is worth what they offer.
Takagi T-K3 NG model
This is their second most popular model and is just the indoor version of the previous model. Everything is the same except that because it is indoors you can get a little hotter water. You can even install it in series with a storage water heater to heat the water a little more than the storage one. This model also costs nearly $1000 and considering that there is not much of a difference between the two you should decide whether it is worth the increase in the price.
Takagi T-KJr model
This is the smallest model in their line up and can be use only for one shower or appliance at a time. This is because their maximum flow rate is only 3.8 GPM, and this with a temperature increase of around 60 °F. This flow rate will come down as you increase the temperature of your outlet. Of course if you do not need such a large increase and are content with only a 35 °F increase you will get around 4 GPL, although even this is not sufficient to run two showers comfortably at the same time.
The maximum that you can hope for is one shower and one appliance. At around $650 however it is a little too high in price, especially given its low flow rate and this is the reason why this does not sell much.
Takagi is just another tankless water heater manufacturer, but with nothing to set them apart from the others. In fact, although a few of their models may be good value for money, some others aren’t. It is therefore up to you to see if this is what you require before you make up your mind.
